Peter Condax, M.D.
Peter Condax M.D. founded Retina Specialists of New York in 2002 to provide state-of-the-art medical and surgical treatment of diseases affecting the retina, vitreous, and macula. He began his practice in Manhattan and the practice has since flourished with offices opening in Astoria in 2004 and Flushing in 2006.
Dr. Condax attended Medical School at the New York University School of Medicine after completing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He went on to complete an internship at St Vincent’s Medical Center of New York, New York Medical College. From there, he completed his ophthalmology residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center. He continued on to a 2 year Fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University and New York Hospital.
Dr. Condax is an Associate Adjunct Surgeon at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and Assistant Attending Surgeon at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. He is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine where he holds a teaching position in the Retina Clinic. He has trained many medical students to become ophthalmologists throughout the country and has been recognized as "Teacher of the Year" for his efforts. Dr. Condax previously served as faculty at both the Albert Einstein School of Medicine and the Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He has been involved in numerous research activities and has been a recipient of a National Institutes of Health Intramural Research Training Award.
He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Retina Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the New York State Ophthalmologic Society, New York Medical Society and Hellenic Medical Society.
Dr. Condax is fluent in Greek, Spanish, and Italian.
George Condax, M.D.
Dr. George Condax is one of the original founders of Retina Specialists of New York and currently sees patients at all of our three office locations.
He provides compassionate retinal care individualized for each patient's case. Dr. Condax’s expertise is in diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, complicated retinal detachments, vitrectomy surgery, macular hole surgery, eye trauma and all inflammatory and infectious disorders involving the retina. His research interest has been in macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
Dr. Condax completed his medical internship and ophthalmology residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center in New York. He completed his Retina Fellowship training at West Virginia University. He received his undergraduate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Mass.
Dr. Condax academic appointments include having served as faculty as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology in the Department of Ophthalmology at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV and as the Director of the Retina Service at Jacobi Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Condax has also served as an Associate Adjunct Surgeon at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and Clinical Instructor at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City and Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
He has been the recipient of numerous awards and has presented at several Ophthalmology meetings. He is a member of several professional societies such as the American Academy of Ophthalmology, New York State Ophthalmologic Society and Hellenic Medical Society of New York.
When not taking care of patients George enjoys spending time with his wife Michelle and 3 children.
Jeffrey J. Yu, M.D.
Dr. Jeffrey Yu is a vitreoretinal surgeon specializing in the medical and surgical management of diseases affecting the retina, vitreous, and macula. He is dedicated to delivering compassionate, state-of-the-art care for patients throughout the New York metropolitan area.
Dr. Yu earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Stanford University before attending the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, where he graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honors. He completed his internship at the University of Michigan and remained there for his ophthalmology residency and a two-year fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery. His advanced training provided extensive experience with both complex surgical cases and the latest medical treatments for retinal disease.
An active contributor to the field, Dr. Yu has authored peer‑reviewed publications and presented research at national ophthalmology meetings. His clinical interests include age‑related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment repair, epiretinal membrane and macular hole surgery, and complex vitreoretinal trauma.
Dr. Yu is board‑certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Outside of work, Dr. Yu enjoys spending time with his fiancée and their Chihuahua–Shih Tzu mix, Jib, exploring New York City, and traveling.

Roula ~ Certified Medical Assistant, Director of Retinal Imaging
Roula has been with RSNY since 2006 and is a highly skilled certified medical assistant with specialization in retinal imaging including fundus photography, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and digital angiography/videography. She is a National Health Association certified Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy and EKG technician and also holds a degree in Occupational Studies. She also assists the doctor with his office surgeries and laser treatments. She is indispensible to the practice and her patients appreciate her efficient care and warm smile. She is fluent in Greek and medical Spanish.
Elizabeth ~ Practice Administrator
Elizabeth has been with RSNY since 2008. The medical field represents a career change for her, having been trained as a geologist and formerly in the teaching profession. She handles all contracting and credentialing responsibilities for the practice and when she is not busy seeking the most efficient use of the practice's resources, she can be found being a mom to her two beautiful daughters.
